Missing skier found dead, buried in snow in Winter Park

A skier was found dead last month at the Winter Park Resort after his girlfriend reported he missed the slopes, police say.

The man’s girlfriend reported that he was missing just before 7 p.m. 17 Sunday, January 26, according to a February 5th release from Fraser Winter Park Police Department.

She told officers that her boyfriend did not show up to take the ski train back to Denver, police said. The train runs from Denver’s Union Station to the bottom of Winter Park and is scheduled to leave the ski resort at 1 p.m. 16.30 daily Thursday to Monday.

Police said they pinged the man’s phone and Winter Park Ski Patrol members started a land search for the missing skier, but they had no luck.

After a second, more detailed telephone tracks, the search team found the missing man partially buried in snow in a wooded area near Mary Jane Ski Run, police said in the release.
