Vintry weather on the way Saturday. Here’s what you need to know

An active weather pattern sends another round of winter weather to DMV on Saturday. A winter weather advice is planned for the day by the National Weather Service.

Here’s what to expect and how it will play out.

After a sunny and hot Friday, clouds will rise overnight as temperatures fall close to freezing. These clouds will “trap” in the cold and prevent much of a warm -up on Saturday.

Radar | Latest weather

Precipitation is likely to start as snow for DC around 1 p.m. 10, which is only expected a little for no accumulation of snow as the soil is likely to be too hot still.

At noon, the snow will change to a wintry blend of gossip, freezing rain, snow and rain. If the preliminary round of snow is heavy enough, it will cool the soil enough to start Isaccumulation.

Remember, elevated roads, bridges and transitions always freeze first and will be the focus of most Isaaccumulation. While your neighborhood streets can be fine, drive with extreme caution on these surfaces if you are going to travel.

VINTRY MIX showers will subside for the subway around 10 pm. 20, with lingering rainfall probably along I-81 through around midnight before coming to an end.

Any ice cream that accumulates is likely to melt by Sunday as a mixture of sun and clouds returns and temperatures heat back to the 40s.

Don’t let your guard down on your way into next week. The first alarm weather team traces another round of winter weather that can bring the chance of significant snow, ice and rain to the area.
