When is it going to snow Saturday?

The snow is intended to move on Saturday night and leave the area early Sunday. The daytime hours on both Saturday and Sunday should be dry.

The timing is perfect for minimizing the impact on the journey as there should not be many vehicles on the road when the snow comes down to the heaviest. That said, if your travel plans have you on the move on Saturday night, you need to be warned – roads will be a mess. New York City said it would suspend alternative parking parking on Saturday to help remove snow.

The event begins like all snow. Snowfall speeds pick up and we begin to see a transition from snow to gossip mixed with slightly freezing rain along the coast and south of NYC for early Sunday.

ICE accumulations will be light in the Tri-State area, but can make untreated roads, sidewalks and driveways extra smooth, so take extreme caution when you go out on Sunday morning.

Overall, Sunday can be a great day if you love snow and don’t have to travel. Make your sled ready!

When we look ahead, we also have a few more chances for winter weather later next week.
