Thomas Detry leads the Phoenix Open, Emiliano Grillo makes hole-in-one

Belgium’s Thomas Detry established a two-shot lead on the Midway Point of the Phoenix Open by mapping another round 64.

Detry made eight birdies and a bogey at TPC Scottsdale to move to 12 under Pari.

Michael Kim shot a 63 to move to Common Seconds with other American Alex Smalley.

“I’ve actually been very comfortable on the green this week,” Detry said. “I did some good job with my coach and the green rolls as well as it will be.

“I’ve also hit a lot of fairways.”

Jordan Spieth is three shots from the lead after a 65, while Scottie Scheffler’s 66 leaves him five back.

Accommodation leader Wyndham Clark fell down on the leaderboard after maping a 73 – he sits on five under with Scotland’s Robert Macintyre.

Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo made a hole -i -a short 16th – which is famous for his violent audience atmosphere – during his 69.

“You always dream of making a hollow-in there, so every time you step in there you try to do it,” he said.

“It was loud. It was very loud. There were a lot of feelings.”
