Former Brown’s defensive coordinator dies after battle with cancer

Cleveland, Ohio – Dick Jouron, former Brown’s defense coordinator in the 2011 and 2012 season, has died at 74.

“We are so incredibly ruined to share the news that my father is dead,” Jaouron’s daughter Kacy released on Saturday on Facebook and noticed that her father had died after being diagnosed with cancer this week. “The past week has been a terrible nightmare after another. The pain that I and everyone else who loved him feel right now is absolutely immense.

“The very best son, brother, friend, teammate, husband, father, coach, man whom we were all lucky to love.”

Jaouron’s two seasons with Cleveland became his last in the NFL and withdrew too well after his tenure.

Browns ended the season 4-12 in 2011, but their defense ranked fifth place in points (19.2) and other at the fewest passers-by yards (184.9). However, it was a poorly run defense that hurt them that ranked 30. In rushing yards allowed (147.4).

Browns were 5-11 in 2012 and things didn’t improve for their defense. They finished 19. In points (23.0), 18. In rushing yards (118.6) and dropped to 24. In passers -by yards (245.2).

Long before his time in Cleveland built Jaouron years of experience as both player and coach in the NFL.

An All-American Safety at Yale, Detroit, drew up Jauon in 1973, and he served a Pro Bowl-Nikk in 1974. He spent five seasons there before playing his last three seasons in Cincinnati.

He worked his way up the coaching ranks before taking the chief coach concert in Chicago from 1999 to 2003, winning the AP NFL coach in the year in 2001.

Jaouron took the defensive coordinator position in Detroit in 2005, but after the head coach Steve Mariucci was fired after week 12, Jouron trained the last five games and was 1-4.

He then took the head coaching concert in Buffalo from 2006–09, but was fired halfway through the 2009 season and ended with a cumulative record of 24-33.
