NH HOUSE BACKS ‘ANTI-SANCTUARY’ BILL IN ATTAKING ONLY ONE STAL POTION

New Hampshire House voted overwhelming and without debate Thursday to demand that the local police fulfill federal requests for immigration detention against undocumented immigrants in local custody.

The 351-6 margin was hailed by Republicans who have prioritized banned so-called sanctuaries in New Hampshire. But the vote was also a dramatic turn for Democrats who tend to oppose bills that force the police to cooperate with federal immigration, including last week, when the State Senate adopted a similar measure along strict party lines.

The house also voted 211-146 on Thursday to ban public schools and colleges that housing people who lack legal status. There is no record that any school or college in New Hampshire has ever made, and the vote on this bill fell along near party lines, with Democrats against.

“This bill is unnecessary and tries to solve a problem that does not exist,” Rep said. Peggy Balbon from Rye.

Both measures are now going to the House Finance Committee for further review.

The debates on policies affecting immigration enforcement in New Hampshire have been conspicuous all session long.

“I think (Democrats) just want to get it out of the way and we just want to do it because that’s what we’re doing,” said Deerfield rep. Terry Roy, who heads House Criminal Justice Committee, about the immigration bills.

Republican head of government Kelly Ayotte, meanwhile, has called on legislators to get her bills to give law enforcement to police immigration. She says she sees immigration policy as an area when she hopes to work with the Trump administration.

“If you have committed a crime in our country, we will definitely prioritize to ensure that we cooperate with the federal authorities,” Ayotte journalists said Wednesday.
