A N -Men’s State in Louisiana was closed Friday morning after a pile involving several vehicles in dense fog.

The incident happened on I-55 South in St. John The Baptist Parish. The area is about 30 miles northwest of New Orleans. The road was closed at Milepost 13.8.

L ouisiana State Police said the crash involved several vehicles.

“An 18-wheeled overturns and improvement are in progress,“The police said in a social media post around 8 am.” Motorists are asked to plan their journey accordingly and to seek alternative routes if possible. “

T Raffic was redirected to another path until I-55 was cleared and opened again shortly after noon.

A 2023 pile on the same intermediate state killed at least seven people and wounded at least 63. That crash was blamed for “Superfog”, which was brought to a combination of fire smoke and dense fog.

National Weather Service in New Orleans warned of similar conditions in the area Friday morning.

“Particles from ant fires west of New Orleans can quickly increase the number of water drops that transform a more garden -black fog event into a ‘super fog’ with visibility that quickly goes to near zero in areas near fires,” Weather.com Senior Senior Meteorologist Jonathan Erdman said.

F OGGY conditions could continue.

“While the South is setting record heights in early February this week, this hot, humid air produces that flows over Colder Gulf Water near the coast, stubborn sea fog that can hang in for days,” Erdman said.
