Snowy Saturday night on the tap with slow travel conditions

A snow -covered evening is expected for the city on Saturday, with conditions set to create smooth and slow travel.

The prognosis indicates that the first flakes could begin to fall around 2 p.m. 18 with up to 4 inches heavy, wet snow that is possible to collect in everything with some ice.

The accumulation can be smaller in areas closer to the coast, with lower quantities also possible due to rain, ice and sleet mixed with the snow.

The snowfall, which is not expected to affect roads until around 2 p.m. 20, will be at the worst from 1 p.m. 21 to 7 p.m. 1, the prognosis indicates. Most of the snowfall ends around 7 p.m. 02 to 3

Sunday could see a couple of passing snow showers between 7 p.m. 7 and 9, but no further accumulation is expected according to the forecast.

New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advice for the five boroughs from Saturday night to Sunday and warned New Yorkers that streets could be slushy and smooth.

The agency advises anyone who ventures outdoors to take public transit if possible. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians have to look for icy conditions on streets and sidewalks.

Alternative parking rules will be suspended on Saturday. The city’s sanitation department said that more than 700 salt spreaders will be ready to cross the five districts that treat streets.

“Our city agencies are ready to answer the call and keep New Yorkers in safety as we expect freezing temperatures and snowfall this weekend,” Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement.

“We expect snow on Saturday night to Sunday morning, and thanks to our men and women at the Department of Transport, Department of Sanitation and Emergency Management, we are prepared for what is coming,” he added.

The mayor recommended New Yorkers Sign Up to notify NYC To get weather warnings and updates.
