NYC Snow Storm Prognosis: Timeline, how many centimeters can expect today | Live

A strong winter storm moves quickly towards New York City, where the forecast shows a high probability of 4+ inches snow in metro areas and 6+ inches in the suburbs by Saturday night.

However, an early Sunday transition from snow to freezing rain and sleet can affect the overall accumulation this weekend.

Saturday morning and afternoon: Skies will mostly be cloudy, with heights near 36, but wind coolings as low as 20. Most areas probably do not see snow until after 1 p.m. 16.00

17:00 Saturday: Snow is expected to start. A Winter Storm warning comes into force for Connecticut, the Lower Hudson Valley and parts of northeastern New Jersey. A winter weather advice takes the effect for New York City, Long Island and most of New Jersey.

7pm Saturday: Snowfall is expected to intensify all night, with 1 to 2 inches per hour of snowfall possible. Road conditions will be dangerous. ICE -accumulation is possible.

1 am Sunday: Temperatures will begin to rise over freezing. The snow is mixed with and/or changes to freezing rain and sleet. Coastal areas are likely to see a transition to rain when rainfall intensity is diminished.

7 am Sunday: The rain and the snow mixture gradually fall.

11.00 Sunday: The warning and counseling are lifted.

Tuesday Evening Wednesday: National Weather Service says there is a 30 to 50% chance of more sneak cumulation from another storm system

According to National Weather ServiceNYC, Northern New Jersey and most of Long Island can expect 3 to 5 inches of snow, though Northern Suffolk County may see higher totals. Connecticut and the Lower Hudson Valley can expect 5 to 7 inches and the whole area will see a bright glaze of ice.
