It looks like Warriors came close to acquiring Kevin Durant in a fantastic, blockbuster movement. Again.

Golden State reportedly pursued a trade with Phoenix Suns for Durant in recent days until Thursday’s NBA trading deadline before the negotiations fell apart after the 36-year-old allegedly communicated his desire not to return to Warriors who ended the discussions and led to Golden State Turning and supposedly Acquisition of Miami Heat Forward Jimmy Butler Wednesday.

Warriors discussed not only a trade in Suns, but they had a three -team agreement involving Phoenix and Miami Heat in place before Durant made it known that he did not want a reunion in the Golden State, Espn’s Brian Windhorst reported Thursday at “GET OP OP . ”

“There was a trade, kind in place, between Golden State, Phoenix and Miami, who would have returned Kevin Durant to Golden State, but Durant stepped up and made it known that he didn’t want a reunion,” Windhorst said. “And when this deal fell apart, the Golden State turned and tried to get Jimmy Butler.”

Former Warrior General Manager Bob Myers, now analyst at ESPN, revealed Thursday at “NBA Today” that he recently spoke with Durant weeks before the deadline chatted and was told by Star Forward that he did not want to leave Phoenix.

“So I saw Kevin at a football match a few weeks ago and I asked him before all this, I said ‘Hi, are you good? Are you happy? ‘And he said to my face,’ I don’t want to go anywhere, I don’t want to be acted, and I believe it, ‘myers shared. “I think he felt it that way all the time, but when you hear your name being mentioned, for him, I think it was a shock he was a bit like I wasn’t pressing this, I didn’t ask About this.

“And then to hear all the people who speculate in Warriors, I actually think Warriors did the right thing by honoring Kevin’s request.”

Durant does not have a clause without trade in his contract, which means he cannot officially nix a trade for another team. However, Warriors made in Myers’ opinion right by their former player and did not act for him after he communicated that he was not interested in a return, something Myers would also have honored because of Durant’s contribution to the franchise.

“Kevin could have gone anywhere in 2016, any team he would go to,” Myers continued. “He went to Warriors and he is the only person in the equation who criticized it. I didn’t, Joe Lacob didn’t. Steve Kerr did not. Steph Curry didn’t. Daymond Green did not. Only Kevin was the one who was facing control.

“So no matter what Kevin would have, if I had still been with Warriors, Kevin would get. He brought two championships, tried for a third, ended up being injured in this persecution, two finals MVPs. So I like that the warriors said ‘We hear you we wanted you, we respect that you won’t be here. That’s fine. ” ‘

Durant wants a lasting legacy with Warriors, and there is no doubt that the future Hall of Famer cherishes his results with Golden State. However, a reunion just wasn’t in the cards, and Warriors respected it.
