Canelo Alvarez’s next match: Turki Alalshikh announces opponent

Canelo Alvarez’s next match seems to be locked inside.

On Saturday afternoon, Boxing Powerbroker and Riyadh Season Figurehead Turki Alalshikh announced that Alvarez would fight unbeaten IBF Super Middleweight Champion William Scull from Cuba.

The match takes place at Cinco de Mayo in Riyadh, Saudi -Arabia. It will be the first match of the four-match agreement that Alvarez signed with Alalshikh and Riyadh season. Alalshikh published the message of X.

Canelo signed the message with a quote response to the post.

Canelo (62-2-2-2, 39 Kos) will be able to regain undisputed championship status with a win over Scull. There is a lot at stake, because if Canelo wins – as most people expect – the September clash with Terence Crawford will be for the undisputed super middleweight title.

The Canelo-Crawford match was already massive on paper, but the addition of undisputed title status makes it even more attractive.

Scull (23-0, 9 Kos) enters the match fresh from a unanimous decision-making victory over Vladimir Shishkin in October 2024. That victory won the IBF crown and set him up for the opportunity to fight Canelo in May.

He has a chance to disturb the Apple wagon, but even though he does not, he will receive the most beautiful financial reward in his career when he climbs in the ring with Canelo.

On top of the prestige by meeting a legend, most fighters chase a battle with Canelo because of the economic windsfall it gives. Scull has caught the carrot.

Upcoming boxing plan

The year is shaped up to be another strong for boxing with lots of big matches. Canelo-scull fits well on this list.
