Netflix’s new criminal drama is a convincing mystery series – and it’s made to get binged

If you are both a lover of Nordic Noir and are looking to be sucked into a new Netflix series, the streaming service has just added a new show that will almost certainly be your next TV occupation.

The show in question is “The Ears Murders”, a new Netflix Limited series that whispers us away to a picturesque Swedish city shaken by a disappearance (and which you might guess by the title, death).

The series arrived only on the streamer on February 6, but it rises through the charts quickly. At the time of writing (February 7), it has already become one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Right now, it is in fourth place after overtaking the recent arrivals such as Kaitlyn Derver-led genuine crime effort “Apple Cider Vinegar” and “The Recruit”, which just returned to his second season.

After streaming the show myself, I can see why this Scandinavian series gets attention: It is practically custom-built for Binge-Viewing, and quickly offers lots of hooks to keep you glued on your device. Fascinated? Here’s a little more info about “The Aare Murders”, plus why I think it’s worth watching this weekend (or beyond).

“The Åre Murders” is a limited series of adaptation of a popular series of books bound by the Swedish author, Viveca Sten. It follows down-on-the-Luck police officer Hanna Ahlander (Carla Sehn) to her sister’s holiday home in the titular skiing. Hanna is on leave from her job in Stockholm, and She has recently been dumped by her partner as well.

Despite all the drama, she finds fresh problems in town: A girl has disappeared on her way home from a party night to Lucia, a Swedish light festival … and Hanna can’t help but get involved. So she connects with the local police department, joins the local detective Daniel Lindkog (Kardo Razzazi) and begins to investigate the disappearance.

Should you stream ‘Åre Murder’ on Netflix?

If you like Nordic Noir, you’ve had earlier Netflix shows like “an almost normal family” and “The Breakthrough” or you’re just on the market for an incredibly bingable crime drama you want to enjoy “vein murder”. It’s as simple as that.

The show comes with all the characteristics of its sub -genre; A beautiful, snow -clad little town, potential suspects and secrets keep up by raising their heads in practically any moment, and we also have protagonists with their own personal or private challenges

The show adapts two of Sten’s stories to a short limited series, and in my opinion it is to marry this short form factor (five episodes that vary in length from 35-55 minutes) with two compelling mysteries is a recipe for success.

There are intrigues galore in this quiet environment, and the relatively short episodes (especially for the first, three-episode arch, “hidden in snow”) allows the story to unfold at a fast pace. You will be served at least one surprising disclosure per. EP, you will see the investigation and get hints at other secrets that are not yet shared and before you know it arrives the credits.

Throw the sharp beauty of the northern surroundings, twisting studies and some solid, naturalistic notions, and you have a compelling criminal drama that I would bet lots of viewers would like to run through.

At least I would recommend potential viewers to try the first bow; It bells in less than two hours and to see that the first case is being cracked will help you decide whether the “veins” belongs to your surveillance list or not.
