Florida Atlantic defeats No. 25 Clemson; 4-0 on the season

Boca Raton, Fla. -Florida Atlantic Softball Team rolled through day two of Paradise Classic on Friday and went down No. 25 Clemson with a pleasant 6-2 win before defeating Georgia State with a score of 5-1.

After the winnings, the owls move to 4-0 on the season, their best start since 2016. Both wins over the ranked tigers (1-2) and Panthers (0-1) were keyed by Masterclass Pitching performances, with juniors Jaden Martinez and Autumn Courtney To start in the circle.

With delayed start to the previous neutral site games, the Fau left the field well past midnight with a few wins in hand as they continue their momentum from their 2024 championship season.

Martinez did early work with tiger fighters with three strikes in the first four bats. Martinez finished his six-in-in-line excursion with 10 total strikes, a new career high.

At the first pitch of her first plate look at the bottom of the second round, Kiley Channell launched a flowering bomb to the middle field to put the owls on the board. Later in the frame, beginner of Bella in front Tacked on a race, the second RBI in her young career.

The fourth inning saw Florida Atlantic further pull further by capitalizing on three errors in four record exhibitions to score three races to build a 6-0 lead. Two tiger races in the fifth were not enough when the owls got away with the 6-2 win.

Courtney picked up straight where she let go 24 hours before and withdrew the first five Panther bats via Strikeout.

On the offensive side put a double steal the tone of an Owls team that wants to take advantage of a quick start. Junior Chloe Yeatts Opened scores by running in the leading walker, beginner Destiny JohnsAt the bottom of the first.

A few substitutes came in on the scoring fun in the sixth, with junior Yani Guzman Driving in Pinch Runner -Nyhiller Sophia Camacho.

  • Head coach Jordan Clark Now have a career record of 80-36 and are 11-9 when faced with opponents from BIG 10, BIG 12, SEC and ACC
  • Courtney is now 2-0 on the season and has a total of 25 strikes in two games while allowing a .087 batting average
  • Channell hit the first owl of the season and the second of her collegial career
  • Yeatts have collected six hits in 11 bats
  • Four owls have registered several RBI on the season. Channell leads the road with five, followed by front, Hammonds and Yeatts with two each

Day Three of Paradise Classic will see Florida Atlantic will take on Missouri State (0-2), with first pitch scheduled for 10 p.m. 18.00
