After participating when he calls the heart, Melissa Gilbert reveals what she would love to see from her character moving forward

When it calls the heart -a well-oiled machine of a show-still strong 12 seasons in. Since the latest episodes hit 2025 TV planHallmark Western romance drama still manages to keep things fresh. It includes bringing new faces to hope Valley, such as Little house on the prairie Star Melissa Gilbert. After participating in the show, Gilbert opens up what she would love to see from her character.

Melissa Gilbert is best known for playing Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little house on the prairie from 1974 to 1983. Now at WCTHShe plays Georgie McGill, a forensic accounting investigator with Royal Canadian Mounted Police as she told Entertainment weekly. She appears as part of a two-episode arch that will see McGill crossing trails with Jack Wagner’s Bill Avery (and the two have a story together). While it is unknown whether she will appear on additional episodes, Gilbert expressed interest in returning and further exploring the dynamics between Georgie and Bill:

I would very much like to see what happens to Bill and Georgie in the future because it is left as a romantic cliffhanger-will the non-they? Are they, isn’t? I also think it’s really nice to make the beginning of a romantic relationship with two people of our age. Just because you’re over 60 doesn’t mean you’re dead.

It is exciting to know that Bill and Georgie want some kind of story together, so there can be an interesting back story there that can give some drama. Interestingly, Bill has seen a handful of romance across the show’s race at this time. Another would be entertaining to see. Or at least it would be fun to dig deeper into his past to see what happened and whether the couple still carry a torch to each other. It is encouraging that Gilbert is also interested in diving into this relationship.

I am curious about what will play for Georgie as well as Bill over the two episodes that make up a short bow. However, it is not unusual for a short story to turn into something more on a show. Otherwise, fans will just have to wait and see what’s in front of the two above -mentioned characters on the beloved series.

In the meantime, it’s not the only romance in the Hope Valley. After the brutally long wait for their relationship, Elizabeth and Nathan finally kissed at the end of season 11 and have benefited from their newly won relationship this season. More will certainly be on the way for them, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it came with more complications because the slow fuel in their relationship just wasn’t enough.

I keep an eye on that couple, but will now also do the same with Bill and Melissa Gilbert’s Georgie. With new faces coming into the river and love that bloom between established characters, Erin Krakow-led series Offers some cute stories.
