Boston Celtics Bash New York Knicks Bag Jayson Tatum Blizzard

Boston Celtics hardly needed luck to get the best of New York Knicks again when Jayson Tatum turned out to be all they required.

Tatum and Celtics muted Knicks’ opportunity to make a larger statement and thoroughly dominate a 131-104 decision at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night in primetime. With 40 points, Tatum was just the third Bostonian, who sent consecutive show with at least 35 against Knicks, joining the Elite Company of Larry Bird and Bill Sharman.

Negated in the effort was a 36-point excursion from Jalen Brunson, who might be the one thing that held things at least some respect before Tatum’s oppressive attack-assisted by a 6-of-8 context from the bench of the Payton Pritchard-given bench Boston to create healthy distance and then some.

Saturday marked the first time that Knicks faced the defense masters and their long -standing division rivals since the opening evening back in October. While New York (34-18) has undoubtedly grown since the 132-109 disaster, signs of progress were all too fleeting Saturday night producing Knicks’ worst defeat margin so far this season.

Boston (37-16) moved two and a half games ahead of Knicks to second place at the eastern conference playoffs and won for the sixth time in the last seven meetings. The lonely victory was earned last April with and Anunoby, who participated in a game where Boston played his starters despite the top seeds secured. Anunoby did not play on Saturday night and missed his third consecutive match with a footprint.

New York and Boston are fighting again in two weeks as Knicks is destined for TD Garden on February 23rd. Meanwhile, Knicks returns to action on Tuesday night as they hit the way to meet Indiana Pacers (at 7.30 pm one, msg/tnt).
