Blizzard Warning issued to Avalon -The Peninsula

A Blizzard warning is now in effect for parts of the Avalon Peninsula.

Snow is expected to start shortly after dinner and at least continue far into Monday morning.

Environment Canada predicts 25-40 cm of snow during that time.

There are also strong wind throw predicted, with northern windows to over 110 km/h.

Meteorologist Melissa Field predicts bad conditions for most parts of Avalon, as well as the South Coast, Clarenville, Bonavista Peninsula and potentially even gander.

“We expect the wind to ramp up with this one overnight, with wind throwing 110 (km/h) overnight tonight and tomorrow morning over the Avalon Peninsula, and then with that we expect some windy snow along with that too. So with the cold temperatures and the high wind and the heavy snowfall rates, we expect visibility to be reduced a lot, ”she told VOCM News.
