Jon Batiste sings Jazzy National Anthem at Super Bowl: Watch

Anyone who is looking for an excellent example of seven-time Grammy winner Jon Batiste’s talent does not have to look longer than his reproduction of national anthem before the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Stationed on a platform in the midfield behind a white grand piano with multicolored psychedelic swords painful on it, Batiste sang an innovative and bluesy, but respectful take on the song and added blooms on the piano as he gently played with the traditional formulation. In line with the New Orleans theme for tonight’s entertainment, he added a jazzy vamp on the song’s final that stretched out “the free” country with some soaring song.

Batiste OVERSED SUPER BOWL LIX ENTERTAINATION BEFORE THE GAME WITH TREMBONE SHORTY, LAUREN DAIGLE AND LEEDISI. All four artists are natives in New Orleans, selected for embodiment of the city’s musical and cultural heritage. Thrombone Shorty performed “America the Beautiful” with the Grammy Award-winning vocalist Lauren Daigle; Ledisi performed “lift each voice and sing.”

Also during the pregame show, Lady Gaga performed an emotional version of her song “Hold My Hand” on Bourbon Street as a tribute to the victims of the New Year’s attack that left 14 people died. Gaga, who played piano during her performance, became a full band and choir. Louisiana State Police Troopers, New Orleans police officers, first respondents and law enforcement gained a view of the front. Former New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady and Michael Strahan were also shown in the tribute, serving as an introduction to the broadcast.

Both Super Bowl Pregame Entertainment and Apple Music Super Bowl Halfime Show contained American Sign Language (ASL) performances. Stephanie Noguera’s performed “Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful”, Otis Jones IV “lifted each voice and singing,” and Matt Maxey delivered the ASL reproduction to the break.
