How, when and where to see 2025’s second full moon

The second full moon in the winter – February’s Snow Moon – rises on Wednesday, February 12 and glows evening sky as it rises to the east at dusk. As it appears on the horizon, you will witness a breathtaking blend of oranges and delicate red when our natural satellite pops up under the horizon.

Known as Snow Moon is also called February’s full moon the starving moon or storm moon. February’s full moon will occur in the constellation Leo.

A full moon seems most striking as it rises on the eastern horizon just after sunset in the west. The best time to see it rise will be Moonrise where you are Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

For those in eastern American states, the moon will be officially full – 100% turned on by the sun – almost at the exact moment it rises into the eastern sky.

In Los Angeles, sunset will be at. 17:33 pst, and Moonrise will be at. 17:57 pst.

How to see the full snow moon

Find an elevated location, face east or venture to an east facing beach. Both will reject a clear overview of the horizon and the best view of the snowmain, clear skies that allow. Your naked eyes are perfect for viewing, but a few binoculars will improve your view of the lunar surface that rises to the sight.

When is the next full moon?

The next full moon after the snowman will be Worm Moon, which will be full at. 02.56 on Friday, Mar 14 2025 – The Third and Last Full Moon in Winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

March’s Worm Moon will be pretty special because it will also be the first total lunar eclipse since 2022, visible over North and South America.
