6+ inches of snow expected when larger winter storm hits Virginia Tuesday

Richmond, Va. – Monday brings a mixture of clouds and sunshine. It will be seasonal cool with heights in the mid -40s.

A significant winter storm will affect the region Tuesday to Tuesday night:

  • Snow is spreading over the state Tuesday morning
  • There will be periods of snow through early to mid -afternoon
  • The snow changes to a winter mixture in the subway and pointing south during the afternoon
  • Heights will be in the low to mid -30s
  • The mixture changes to rain in the southern VA late afternoon and potentially in the evening in the subway
  • Some snow and winter interi-mixtures continue on Tuesday night well north of I-64
  • Freezing of rain on Isaccumulation is possible with the best chance well west of I-95.
  • The storm track may change so come back for updates over the next 48 hours

Most areas will look just rain on Wednesday, but some blends or freezing rain are possible in the morning to the north and west.

Heights vary from the mid -30s to the low 40s.

There will be a few waves of rain on Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

Highs Thursday comes into the 50s.

Friday will be dry and cooler, but more showers are expected next weekend.
