Starbucks rewards customers get free coffee on Monday

  • Starbucks offers free coffee for loyalty members Monday as an after-Super-Bowl deal.
  • Starbucks rewards members can get a free 12-ounce hot or iced coffee.
  • Starbucks offers fewer offers for loyalty members than the chain did a year ago.

Starbucks hand out free coffee to members of his loyalty program Monday.

The chain offers Starbucks rewards members a free 12-ounce hot or iced coffee all day Monday. The campaign, called “Starbucks Monday”, is meant to be a free pick-me-up as members return to work the day after the Super Bowl.

“With the big game on Sunday, February 9, many Americans spend the day going big – which could lead to a long Monday,” Starbucks said in a statement announcing the deal.

Loyalty members can get the free coffee using a coupon in Starbucks mobile app, says the company.

Still Starbucks have been offering fewer campaigns since last fall as it cut down on offer under CEO Brian Niccol. The company said it would give members instead of offering so many free goods or discounts.

“As we have been switched out of discounts to more widely based marketing, it helped us reach a wider base of customers,” Niccol said on a earnings call last month.

Some Starbucks Baristas previously told Business Insider that they were often overwhelmed by mobile orders when the company offered reward members.

The cut -out of campaigns is one of several changes that Niccol has monitored as far as Starbucks’ CEO.

Starbucks also sent an advertisement called “Hello Again” Under covering leading dishes on Sunday.
