Winter Weather Alerts Posted when more winter storms are set to barrel across us

This renewed threat comes just like millions of people across northeastern and New England cleaning up the wake of a winter storm over the weekend that dumped several inches of snow over the region.

Triple threat of winter storms veltes this week

Fox Forecast Center said at least three separate winter storms are expected to sweep over a large part of the United States over the coming week, which brought the threat of widespread snow and ice to tens, if not hundreds, of millions of Americans from coast to coast.

And forecasters say there is one thing that these incoming storms have in common: They are all expected to blow the northeast.

The first of three winter storms is expected to develop over the plains as we begin the new work week and the preparations are underway in the region.

National Weather Service released Winter Weather Alerts for more than 20 million Americans from Central Plains to Mid-Atlantic, which will be in effect until at least Wednesday morning.

Parts of eastern Colorado, southern Nebraska, most of Kansas, central and northern Missouri, southeastern Iowa and western Illinois are all during a winter wall.

This includes cities such as Wichita and Topka in Kansas and Kansas City and St. Joseph in Missouri.

NWS said the storm will leave Rockies on Tuesday and will affect the central plains from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday.

Heavy snow is possible at the beginning of Wednesday, with some snowfall speeds of about an inch per hour that could allow approx. 5 inch sneak cumulation for large parts of central Kansas along the Interstate 70 -corridor.

How does winter storms form?

Kansas Government Manager Laura Kelly issued a verbal state of disaster’s emergency proclamation on Sunday morning due to the impending winter storms that will affect the state this week.

“Kansans has been facing challenges due to winter storms this year,” Kelly said in a statement. “The key to meeting these challenges is to be prepared. As I did during previous storms, I urge all Kansans to take action to make sure their families are ready by making a home emergency and emergency plan.”

In addition, Kelly urged residents to avoid travel if possible. If travel is needed, it is advisable to tell someone your travel plans, ensure that the vehicle has a full tank of gas and keep an emergency set inside the vehicle.

After affecting the plains, the storm is expected to move into the Ohio Valley and then slam the mid-Atlantic and parts of the northeast until Wednesday morning before the system pushes offshore.

Richmond, Virginia, Washington and Baltimore are under winter storm watches through Wednesday. Heavy snow is possible with totals between 4 and 6 inches. Winter Storm warnings are in effect for parts of northwestern North Carolina, Central and Western Virginia and East West Virginia.

Other storm develops once pushing out on the east coast

As the first storm begins to relax over Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Wednesday, the second storm will already develop over the plains.

Fox Forecast Center said the storm spreads snow into the Midwest Wednesday night before putting its sights on northeastern Thursday.

The Fox Forecast Center said this storm could potentially produce the highest snow plots of the three, as heavy snow looks more likely from the plains to New England.

From Monday, Fox Forecast Center said the busy Interstate 95 -corridor looks more wet than white, but it will get in better focus when the week goes.
