Heaven is cloudy around the eastern Iowa, with a disturbance moving through the midwest. As it does, it should lose some of its stans and it runs into a very dry air around the TV9 view.

As a result, the radar image around eastern Iowa tonight can represent snow that falls into the dry air and evaporates before it reaches the soil. However, the conditions in our northern zones are more favorable for the snow to do so. This is where a trail for 2 inches of snow is possible. Elsewhere, little or no accumulation is expected.

Temperatures tonight slide down into the individual digits and 10s at the beginning of Tuesday. The rest of the day will involve a temporary reduction in clouds, but these will start to thicken again on Tuesday night. Heights reach the top 10 to mid -20s from north to south.

A much more marked winter storm is on the field in the middle of the week, with its effects potentially feeling as early as Wednesday morning.

A winter storm wall is in effect in much of the view area that starts early on Wednesday morning and expires Wednesday night. This is the area in line for some of the toughest travel conditions and heaviest snowfall.

Originally, precipitation will have to overcome dry air in place again on Wednesday morning, but the strength of the system should mean that there is no problem to do so.
