The NBA star was ‘ready to retire’ if he had been traded elsewhere but La Lakers

La Lakers has a unique feature for many players because of the rich history of the franchise.

Luka Doncic secured a dream trade to La Lakers under the most unexpected circumstances. Dallas Mavericks decided to swap him away and brought Anthony Davis in his place, which is now injured.

Markieff Morris was part of the package that went the other way, with the 35-year-old veteran sent back to the franchise, where he was on the guard schedule, winning the title in 2020.

After stop with Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets, Morris has been on Mavericks since 2023.

Markieff Morris made exception to La Lakers

Markieff Morris did not expect to be traded at all and revealed on his YouTube channel that it was a ‘gross’ experience for him.

Morris had just bought a house in Dallas and expected it to be the last stop of a career that has also taken spells with Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons.

And with a return to Lakers a total surprise, Markieff Morris says that if he had been traded for any other team, he would probably have retired.

Morris said, “I was home man, my feet comfortable. I told you man when it first happened if it was somewhere else I would probably have packed it up.

“Probably would have gone home and been with my family and gave up it.”

Markieff Morris is ready for new look la lakers to roll

Markieff Morris has already debuted in Lakers and scored three points in the victory over Pacers after being involved from the bench, on an evening, which Austin Reave’s stole the show.

And despite the claims from Charles Barkley that Luka Doncic and LeBron James will not be able to play together, Morris feels very different.

He commented: “These guys are used to playing with another big stars behind him, this is a completely different level, they don’t know what comes with Luke.”

Markieff had previously spoken at his press conference to support Doncic’s work ethics and poured cold water on demands that came out of Dallas that suggested the opposite.
