Report: Mavericks’ newly acquired star Anthony Davis to miss several weeks with left adductor stem

Anthony Davis’ first impression with Dallas Mavericks was spectacular. It will also be very short.

Shams Charania from ESPN reports that Davis, acquired by Dallas in a fantastic blockbuster trade that sent superstar Luka Dončić to Los Angeles Lakers, will miss several weeks with a left adductor strain. NBA reporter Marc Stein was first with the news of a potentially long -term absence.

Davis was replaced on the All-Star team Monday by the new teammate Kyrie Irving. All-Star celebrations start Friday in San Francisco and the game is Sunday night.

Coach Jason Kidd said before Monday evening’s loss to Sacramento that the injury is still being evaluated and there is not yet a schedule for Davis’ return.

After Monday, Mavs has home matches against the Golden State on Wednesday and Miami on Thursday before the break.

The 10th time All-Star said after his Dallas debut that he was convinced it was not a serious injury. He said that part of the reason for leaving the game when he felt tightness in the area The groin and quadriceps was due to the abdominal problem.
