Sources – Holy hires Eagles and Kellen Moore as the main coach

Metairie, La. – Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has agreed to become coach of New Orleans Saints, sources of ESPN told Tuesday.

The saints made the move official two days after Moore and Eagles won the Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans. Moore left New Orleans to fly home with the team, but returns to make the move official.

Eagles defeated Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, and quarterback Jalen Hurts was named the Super Bowl MVP. Immediately after the Super Bowl -victory, the Eagles coach Nick Sirianni jokingly stepped down Moore to return to the team in another season.

“Let’s drive this s — back Kellen,” said Sirianni, and laughed.

Moore, 36, decided to move on with his quest to become a head coach instead after a season in Philadelphia. The Eagles were an average of 27.2 points per Match in the regular season (7th in NFL) and 36.3 points per Fight in the Post Season (1. In NFL).

The saints were the last team that filled their head coaching position. Due to NFL rules, they could not make Moore’s hiring employee before the end of the Super Bowl.

New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots carried out all coaching searches that were completed before the Super Bowl.

The saints were willing to wait for Moore after flying to Philadelphia to interview him after the NFC championship two weeks ago.

He was one of four candidates to interview personally with the saints who also conducted several interviews with New York Giants Coordinator Mike Kafka, Miami Dolphin’s defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and Saints Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi, who was promoted to interim trainer after Dennis Allen was fired on November 4th.

Moore is the first main coach to come outside the building since Sean Payton stepped away after the 2021 season. The holy alien Allen, then the defensive coordinator, to the open position after a quick coaching search involving a small pool of candidates, Who each was interviewed once.

He is a departure from Allen, who was 50 and second -time coach when he was hired. Moore will be one of the youngest head coach in the league and comes from the offensive side of the ball, similar to the Payton Road in 2006. Moore played quarterback for Boise State from 2007-2011 and also in NFL with Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys.

Moore started his NFL coaching career after his retirement after the 2017 season. He was Cowboys’ Quarterbacks coach in 2017 and the offensive coordinator in Dallas from 2019-2022. He was offensive coordinator of Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before taking the same position with Eagles this season.
