WSSC WATER has issued advice on boiling water (BWA) for all customers in Prince George’s County, south of MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue), after a suspected water head break early Tuesday morning.

Officials told 7news’ Brad Bell that Water Main Break is near Hampton Overlook during the transition, but there is no estimated timeframe for when repairs will be completed.

From 1 p.m. 06.00 BWA Society North and East of MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) affects all areas south of MD 4.

The advisory affects hundreds of thousands of inhabitants, and due to the size of the break, some customers may experience a little to no water pressure, Said the agency.

Residents who still have running water should bring it to a rolling boiling for at least one minute before:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Wash fruits and vegetables
  • Preparing baby food and formula
  • Makes ice cream
  • Giving to pets

Officials said that any previously stored water, beverages or ice made for the counseling should be discarded. WSSC water said boiled water can be stored in a clean, covered container. Water is still safe for bathing as long as it is not consumed.

In addition, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) said more schools in the area will be closed on Tuesday because of not having water. This includes: Andrew Jackson Academy, Arrowhead Es, Avalon Es, Benjamin Foulois Creative and Performing Arts, Benjamin Stoddart MS, Bradbury Heights ES, CARRODY HILLS ES, César Chávez Dual Spanish Immersion, Crossland HS, Excel Academy PCS, Francis Scott Key Es Highland Park Es, Hillcrest Heights ES, Imagine Lincoln PCS, Imagine Moringside PCS, Longfields Es, Maya Angelou French Immersion, North imagination es, Overlook Spanish Immersion, Panorama Es, Princeton Es, Samuel Chase Es, Samuel P.
