How much snow do we expect to get Wednesday in Metro Detroit?

Detroit – A winter storm after heavy snow is in effect for the whole of Southeast Michigan from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.

Metro Detroit supports the biggest snowfall of the season from Wednesday, February 12. Winter weather advice or warnings expected to be issued later Tuesday, February 11.

The region’s several southern counties are expected to be under advice, while the rest of the Metro Detroit could see Winter Storm warnings.

Snow -Totals will vary, with Wayne, Washtenaw and Monroe counties are expected to receive a little less accumulation due to possible gossip mixture.

Current weather models predict 4-7 inches with the heavier snowfall north of the M-59.

Widespread school closures are possible Thursday, February 13 due to dangerous driving conditions.

Snowfall Estimates:

• Wayne, Oakland and Areas North: 4 to 7 inches

• Monroe and Lenawee counties: 3 to 5 inches

Timeline:

• At. 15.00 Wednesday: Light snow begins

• 16.00 Wednesday: Monroe County could see a possible blend of gossip and snow at first, switch to all snow with approx. at. 17.00

• 6-7 PM Wednesday: Snowfall picks up markedly

• 2-3 Thursday: Powerful snow continues until early morning hours

• 7 AM Thursday: Snow Tapers off when the system moves northeast

Another round of snow could bring a few centimeters on Saturday, February 15, but accurate totals will be clearer after this first storm passes.
