  • Snow showers are clearing out of the Louisville area on Tuesday afternoon. Beating and raining follows.
  • More rain is expected to fall in Louisville on Wednesday and Saturday, which can lead to flooding in some areas.

Louisville gets a break from snow on Wednesday and throughout the rest of the week, but several rainfall rounds are on the way, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Louisville.

Rain showers are expected to arrive in Louisville on Wednesday afternoon, which can bring up to 0.25 inches of rain, according to the NWS forecast.

A measurement of snowfall at the National Weather Service office in HighView showed that 1.8 inches had fallen on Tuesday morning, National Weather Service -meteorologist Ryan Sharp, and up to an extra inch was expected Tuesday night. The accumulation is likely to melt quickly on Wednesday as temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s, he said.

A heavier storm system is likely to come on Saturday, bringing 1-3 inch rain to the Louisville area, Sharp said, and localized flooding is possible.

“It’s not out of the question,” he said of the flood. “The flood of the Ohio River doesn’t really sneak up on us. We know when it will happen. We are seeing the stage of flood this week.”

Temperatures in the Louisville area will be around the city’s Seasonal average Throughout the weekend and is only expected to go below the freezing point for a few nights for the rest of the week, according to the forecast.
