Snow set to start this afternoon, dangerous windows

National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advice for Hays and the surrounding counties.

Snow is spreading to Western Kansas this afternoon according to the weather service. The snow sometimes gets stubborn and heavier after 7 p.m. 22, when the snow expands in the cover tonight.

National Weather Service predicts new sneak cumulation of 3 to 7 inches tonight for Hays.

Another 1 to 3 inch accumulation is expected for Hays Wednesday.

Near and south of a Johnson to Ulysses to Pratt Line, there may also be a chance to freeze rain/drip early in the event.

In addition to snow, winds are expected to be dangerously low through Thursday morning according to Weather Service.

Wind cold below zero is possible Wednesday and Thursday morning. Thursday morning will be the coldest, with wind cooling as low as 10 to almost 20 degrees below zero.

National Weather Service in Goodland also predicts snowfall chances for the northwest corner of Kansas today and tonight.

Moderate to occasional heavy snow is expected to develop tonight, according to the weather service. Less blowing and driving snow is possible with 10-20 mph of wind. Trust is medium to high in the snow and quantities. Effects on the journey are expected.
