FDA problems Select tongue call affecting HEB, Trader Joe’s, other retailers

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that certain brands of tuna are remembered due to a security problem.

ONE Press release Monday said Tri-Union Seafoods, some of its tuna products that were sold during HebGenoa and other brand names with expiry dates in 2027 and 2028.

The problem is a manufacturing error with the “Easy Open” tab Pull on canned lid.

According to the press release, the integrity of the seal may be compromised over time, causing it to leak or be infected with Clostridium botulinum.

Users are advised not to consume the product, even if it does not seem spoiled in any way.

The press release said users could return affected cans to the dealer for a full refund or contact Ti-Union Seafoods for a picking kit and a coupon for a replacement.

Clostridium botulinum is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, better known as botulism.

According to World Health Organization (WHO)It is a rare disease that affects the nervous system.

Early symptoms include weakness, extreme fatigue and dizziness. This can escalate to vomiting, constipation, swelling of the abdominal, diarrhea and weakness of the arms and neck.

Symptoms usually appear within 12 to 36 hours, but may have a maximum range of four hours to eight days.

WHO notes that fever and loss of consciousness are not symptoms. The disease is fatal in 5 to 10 percent of cases.
