2025 Tax Refund Plan: How to check status when it arrives

See your mailboxes and check your bank accounts: IRS refund can be issued already on February 18. However, most federal tax refuses take longer.

The average federal tax refund was about $ 2,825 last filing season. IRS expects more than 140 million tax returns to be filed this season, with more than half using a trusted Tax person.

Where is my 2025 IRS tax fusion?

Your IRS Refund depends partly on your filing method. Below is time frames for when you may expect to receive your tax refund.

E-archived returns can take up to 21 days to process a refund.
It takes 4-8 weeks to be sent the return that it takes 4-8 weeks to process a refund.

Note: The above periods are after IRS has accepted your return.

It is also important to note that errors in your tax forms, IRS treatment delays or banking delays may extend the wait for your tax refund.

Timing of the tax fusion may be delayed

Certain factors may affect the time of your tax refund including:

When you filed. Filing in the busiest time during the tax season (about the end of March to mid -April) could delay your refund.
As credit you claimed. Certain credits, as the earned income tax credit (EITC) or the additional tax credit (childcare (ACTC), may delay the tax return due to the IRS that needs more time to undergo. Refunds with these credits may not be rolled until March.
How to submit your return. Electronically archived return typically processes 1-5 weeks faster than mail-in returns.
If you owed the IRS any money. If you have an outstanding tax liability with the IRS, the tax agency can apply a part or your entire refund to repay your debt.

How to check the status of tax refund

You can check the status of your tax refund using the IRS “Where is my refund?” tool. The website shows you the status of your tax refund already 24 hours after the IRS has accepted your return.

You can also download IRS2GO app To check your status of refund. Or you can call the automated IRS refund hotline of 800-829-1954.

Status of repayment of state tax

Each state has a different tax reimbursement plan. For example, North Carolina Paper Filers may not receive a refund for up to three months, while taxpayers in Oklahoma can expect a refund about five to six weeks after the state accepts the return.
