“The Bachelor” is always full of surprises.

During the week 3 episode, host Jesse Palmer announced that there would be two one-on-one dates and a group date. The group date started things with a “Girl Math” test that hosted Shark Tank “star and social entrepreneur Daniel Lubetzky and comedian Hannah Berner.

Next came one-on-one, where Lead Grant Ellis and a lucky lady went against Las Vegas on a private jet and jumped out of the 829-foot Strat Hotel.

When Ellis was supposed to have his second one-on-one date, viewers were told that it would instead be replaced with a mini-group date. Reality TV icon Lisa Vanderpump and some furry friends joined the date, and a one-on-one dinner was on the field.

Finally, the week ends with a surprise promise evening including some friendly faces from “The Golden Bachelorette.” However, there is also a promosal, dance and – like any great prom – drama.

Beverly Ortega, a 30-year-old Insurance Seller from Howard Beach, New York, was to go on a one-on-one date with Ellis later this week. However, the woman revealed that she was “very ill” and would not return to the house.

To discuss what happened, Ortega joined Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt at “Bachelor Happy Hour” Podcast.

She said she was “honestly so happy” to have received one-to-one date and felt like it reassured her that Ellis felt the same strong connection she did.

Ortega said she was relieved to spend some quality time with Ellis away from the drama. During the week she took a nap and woke up to the stomach that hurt. She initially thought it was just food poisoning when she started vomiting. However, this lasted for 12 hours and once it became clear that she was not in order, production took her to the hospital.

There she got morphine and stayed in the emergency for three hours before she was told she had blindness inflammation and had to go into emergency surgery. She had to be operated on then and there without family or friends around.

“So yes, I was really, really sad,” said Ortega. “Honestly, it took me as a month and a half to recover emotionally. Physically, of course, I was fine. But emotionally I wasn’t. I left like ‘what if?’ “
