Kentucky basketball events again that it is Kryptonite for Tennessee’s scary defense

Lexington – Lamont Butler had a game in ages in Kentucky Basketball‘s victory in home over Louisville in December. The month before that, he tied the game high in assists and plus-minus rating in UK’s neutral-place triumph over Duke in Atlanta.

The Cardinals and Blue Devils are two of Wildcats’ biggest rivals. But both are ACC troops. Among the nemesis in the conference, no rivalry burns hotter for Kentucky than its neighbor to the south: Tennessee.

A shoulder injury shrinked butler to round 1 of the UK/UT last month in Knoxville, Tennessee. He plans to do all he can to make sure he doesn’t miss round 2 tonight at Rupp Arena.

“It still feels good,” Butler said Monday after playing in Kentucky’s latest excursion, a 23-point rut of South Carolina last week. “Good enough that I can play.”

He can’t wait.

“Last game, we got them in their place,” Butler said, referring to Wildcats ’78 -73 victory 28th January Thompson-Boling Arena. “So we have to protect the home course this time and my job is to go out there and win.”

Butler is aware that one of the keys to securing another victory over Vols is frustrating guard Zakai ZeiglerOnly 1 out of 11 went from 3 last month’s loss.

“We were kind of able to control him a little, but he still got off (with) his game,” Butler said, referring to Zeigler’s game-high six assists, “because of how good a player he is.”

Dwane Casey, a member of UK’s1978 National Title Team, served as Y under the Kentucky Jubel tonight.

He later worked as a candidate assistant During the campaign in 1979-80. Casey returned to Lexington to work as an assistant for three seasons under Eddie Sutton. Casey later went into the NBA where he EXPLAINED EN 494-570 (.464) Record about 14 seasons as a main coach, Serving League’s Coach of the Year Award in 2018 with Toronto. The result now is Kentucky 33, Tennessee 26.

Cats lead at the break, 35-26, after scoring eight of the last 10 points.

Wildcats shoot 44.8% (13 for 29) from the field and is 7 of 14 (50%) behind the 3-point line. Trent Noah led all players in the first half with nine points in three 3s.

Tennessee earned 34.6% (9 for 26) of his field target attempts, and was missing all five of its trials beyond the 3-point arch.

Felix Okpara led Vols with eight points (2-of-4 shooting from the field and 4 for 4 at the free throwing line).

With 7:13 back in the first half Kentucky Tennessee, 18-17.

UK is 7 for 17 (41%) from the field; Tennessee is 6 of 16 (38%). Kentucky shoots 33% (2 for 6) beyond the 3-point arch, while Tennessee has missed both his attempts from the distance.
