Big Ten Basketball Standing Update before the last month of the plan

Five teams have emerged as Tier 1-Forders to win the Big Ten Conference in 2024-25.

The conference leader is Purdue, who has 11 wins in his last 12 games, including 10 of 11 in conference games. Review Metrics matches Purdue’s top invoicing: Boilermakers is No. 7 in Kenpom, six spots free of the nearest Big Ten competitor.

Behind Purdue is Michigan and Michigan State. Wolverines are 10-2 in conference games after five wins in six matches (the loss was a 91-64 setback on Purdue). The Spartans in the meantime held the top location of the conference until a recent West Coast Road Trip on which they lost consecutive matches to UCLA and USC. Saturday’s home win over Oregon was a much needed result to stop the team’s slide. Both Michigan schools are 1/2 match behind Purdue.

The last two challengers are UCLA and Wisconsin; Each is 9-4 at conference. The badger may be the team to look at. They are up to No. 13 in Kenpom after a strong road victory over Iowa. The team’s top-end offensive efficiency (Kenpom # 9) is complemented by an improved defense (No. 37). As the weeks go by, Wisconsin is more and more a challenger to win the conference.

Four weeks of games still separate us from the Big Ten, which crowns a master of the season. Before significant upcoming games, including Wisconsin in Purdue (February 15), the race decides, here’s an updated look at the conference position (from February 9):
