3 takeaways from Alabama Basketball’s dominant victory over Texas

Alabama -men Basketball failed to be connected to the Texas trap.

It would have been easy to let happen and even understandable. No. 2 Crimson Tide has the season’s biggest season of the season approaching Saturday against No. 1 Auburn. Matchup has already been talked about lots, even with a game first against Texas on the road that threatens Tuesday night. Any team in Alabama’s place could have easily looked past a smaller team in Longhorns and focus more on the rivalry spel this weekend.

But Crimson Tide didn’t. Alabama went into the Moody Center and dominated. Crimson Tide beat Longhorn’s 103-80 In Austin, Texas.

Here are takeaways from the game between No. 2 Alabama (21-3, 10-1 SEK) and Texas (15-10, 4-8).

Only turnover stops Alabama early

If not for revenue, Alabama may have seized a 30-point lead at the break. That’s about the only thing that slowed down Crimson time into the opening frame.

Alabama had nine revenue in the first half, giving the ball up to 26.5% of belongings.

Otherwise, Crimson rolled tide. Alabama did not miss much, drained 7 of 12 triples (58%) and 17 of 26 total shooting attempts (65%), burning a 49-31 lead at the break.

Meanwhile, Alabama prevented Texas defense from doing a lot. Longhorns couldn’t even get to 30% to shoot on both field dimensions or 3-Pointers. Texas average 0.886 points per Possession, an unclear number, while Alabama was an average of 1,441.

A number of players contributed to the strong efforts. Labaron Philon led the road with 10 points in the first half over 11 minutes.

Nate Oats called revenue a “big problem” after the Georgia game and they continued to be. Still, they don’t seem to prevent Alabama from crossing. At least not against Texas.

Tripler flies from Alabama Backcourt and otherwise

Alabama bent the full force of his backcourt. The guards turned on Texas over the arch.

Labaron Philon drained triple. Aden Holloway did so too. Mark Sears also joined the several 3-pointer club. Chris Youngblood also had one of his own.

The group combined to drive Texas out of the gym as Longhorns struggled to follow the high clips of 3-Pointers.

The guards were not the only ones who made triple, but they played a major role in the strong percentage that Alabama logged. Crimson Tide ended the day 59% beyond the arch.

From deep, Philon 3 ended up for 5, Holloway went 3 for 6 and Sears went 2 for 5. The guards generally made nine of Alabama’s 17 triple on 29 attempts.

Crimson Tide Backcourt also played in other ways. Lots of field goals, rebounds, assists and otherwise. But the high number of 3-Pointers jumped out in a day that the group was shining.

Jarin Stevenson shows up

The second year player has experienced some bumps along the 2024-25 season. His influence has often been limited. However, the game against Texas was not one of these nights. Far from that.

Stevenson, with only a double-digit scoring game in the SEC game before Tuesday, almost reached this brand in the first half alone. In the first five minutes, Stevenson scored five points and grabbed three rebounds.

His efforts continued in the second half. Stevenson hit triple, grabbed rebounds and blocked a shot. Chapel Hill nest played a key role in the victory and scored 22 points with four triple and four rebounds. Stevenson far exceeded his previous season high scoring a total of 11 points.
