Weather Alarm | Snow is expected over Maryland Tuesday to Wednesday

(Updated Tuesday, February 11, at 22.30 by Chief Meteorologologist Gerard Jebaily)

Weather warning until tonight through early Wednesday morning as a winter storm affects the entire state of Maryland with accumulating snow leading to difficult and dangerous trips in many places.

Winter Storm warnings have been issued by National Weather Service together with winter weather counseling north of I-70. They are in effect through. 7 Wednesday.

The storm continues through early Wednesday AM with the worst effects from Tuesday night to early Wed AM. Another system arrives on Wednesday night to bring mostly cold rain and possibly a wet mixture of light snow or sleet with rain, but no additional accumulation is expected.

Snow -Totals appear to be highest south of Baltimore, where over half a feet will be possible along and south of the Bay Bridge on both sides of Chesapeake.

Further north is expected to be smaller, but almost 100% of the state is expected to receive accumulating snow. You can expect most locations along and south of I-70 to have dangerous trips below the top of the storm from tonight to Wednesday morning until the crews have a chance to clear and treat roads.

Here’s what to expect for moderate winter storm impacts.

The snow is tapered on Wednesday morning and dry weather with temps over freezing will hang during the day. But later in the afternoon and evening, another disturbance arrives to bring rain, and a mixture of rain and wet snow to the northwest. A little or no additional accumulation is expected as the temperatures will be too hot. This weekend gets wetter and milder.
