Wednesday Winter Storm Last Timing and Totals

Wednesday Winter Storm Last Timing and Totals

Wednesday remains a first warning weather day, our strongest alarm, as widespread snow blankets area. Determination in school is already widespread and dangerous driving is expected on our roads. Freezing of Drizzle will be a concern until the area switches to all snow before sunrise Wednesday, although ice connections look very easy. Be ready for a smooth and snow -covered morning driving, with snow continues in the afternoon.

What is new:

The latest information is to point to two features that will lower expected snow plots from previous forecasts. The first is that the snow seems to end up about three hours earlier and shave so much time for the snow to continue to stack up. The second is that the period of heavy snow, which appeared to be much of the day earlier, now looks enclosed for the morning. Snow continues in the afternoon, but it will be much easier and does not collect almost as much. This has lowered the expected amount to 3-5 ″ for large parts of the region, including Kansas City Metro. Pockets of 5-6 ″ are possible north of Kansas City, and some can go away with as little as 2 ″ in the weaker parts of the storm (though they will not be clear). Still, the effects remain pretty much the same with dangerous and snowy roads.

TIMING:

Snow will be scattered in much of the night, then the main event will come in early Wednesday morning with widespread snow. The heaviest of it will occur right through the pendant until about 2 p.m. 9 continues snow until about 1 p.m. 15, though it will be easier. Most of the area must be performed before sunset Wednesday.

What is the same:

This will be a powdered and fluffy snow, which is easier to cloud. It is also easier to blow around, so the wind throwing up to 25 km / h from the northeast will reduce visibility at times. The day will also be very cold with temperatures near 20 large parts of the day and wind litter in the individual digits.

What else is ahead:

Winter has a firm grip on us, where Thursday is very cold. We first warn of the morning wind chills from -5 to -15. Friday will be warmer with heights near 40, but it seems to come with 30-40 mph’s wind throw. Saturday packs another winter system, and we first warn for morning rain that switches to afternoon snow. Another 1-3 ″ accumulation looks possible. Sunday then tank with temperatures back to a height of 18.

TOTALS:

Due to the slightly earlier end time for this winter storm, our latest data has cut totals slightly. We still expect similar influences, but 3 to 5 inches are likely to be a little more common. There are still pockets, especially north of KC, which could still receive 5 to 7 inches. There is also slightly less moisture in place for this system than our computer models expected earlier this week. These are a few reasons why we with confidence we changed numbers down. Still, 3 to 5 inches of snow will cause lots of trouble. Please browse to travel Wednesday if you don’t need it. See also the flights. Fortunately with this round we expect all snow, so ice cream is not a current threat.

Cold air:

Due to the very cold air that wraps in this system, we have a concern with dangerous conditions on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Low temperatures fall down to the lower single digits, and when you take into account the wind, our feel -like temperatures will be as cold as -15 degrees.
