When can I archive my taxes for 2024? 2025 Tax archiving, repayment deadlines

The tax season is here. Whether you are filing for the first time in New York, send your documents to an agency or take the process yourself by knowing when and how to archive is important to get your refund check in time.

Internal Revenue Service expects over 140 million people to archive for the tax season 2024 before the deadline.

There are new features for taxpayers intended to increase the availability of the tax information through virtual text and voice assistants, scam alarms and an extension to the IRS individual online account.

When is the tax season?

Internal Revenue Service announced that the tax season began January 27, 2025.

The final deadline for archive is April 15, 2025.

When can you expect your refund check

Once your tax return is filed, the reimbursement process takes up to 21 days if the return is e-fillet. For changed returns received per Mail, it will take a month or longer that returns must be processed and refunded to be sent out.

Payment methods to receive tax refuses:

  • Direct Deposit (Fastest Deposit)
  • Paper Check
  • Prepaid Debit Card
  • Applications for mobile payment that accept direct deposits

To check your refund

Use IRS Where is my refund Tools to track your expected reimbursement date. An update will be available within 24 hours after you e-file this year’s return, or four weeks after you have submitted a paper return.

Refund Tracker tells you when your return has been received, approved and when your refund has been sent. It may take five days before the refund is displayed in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
