The next round of ice and snow arrives in the morning

Temperatures have fallen during freezing and freezing drip is probably tonight. A winter weather advice has been sent for this evening and Wednesday to a winter strap. A few smooth spots can develop after sunset. Temperatures hovers around 30 degrees all night. Light fog is also possible.

The main area of ​​winter weather arrives 4-6 on Wednesday morning and then spreads east. It will end like light snow later in the afternoon. Precipitation types will be a wide mixture. Rain is probably south of the Highway 160 over southern Missouri and much of Arkansas. The exception is the area around Eureka Springs that could see icing. Beat and freezing rain is possible north of Highway 160 to just south of I-44. Sleet can sometimes be heavy. Snow is probably north of I-44.

The problem of predicting accumulations is at least twice. One is this rainfall comes during the day when infrared radiation can melt the ice and the snow. Air temperatures float just above freezing, which will also contribute to the melting.

One to two inches is expected along the I-44 corridor. Northwest of I-44 2-5 inches is possible. Up to a third of an empty ice cream is possible east of Springfield along the Highway 60 and then Fanning out to just south of Rolla.

Very cold air then sets in for Thursday. Readings in the morning can fall to the low to the middle of teens and reach only the top 20s in the afternoon. A mostly sunny day is expected. Cloud -Cover spreads back over Ozarks late on Friday. Strong south winds will quickly initiate hot air back into the region. High temperatures should jump to the mid -40s.

A first alarm is released for Saturday evening to area northwest of I-44. Rain spreads over the area on Saturday. When the cold front passes in late afternoon, very cold air on the back of the storm will change the rain over to snow. Models advertise more inches by Snow Northwest for I-44 by Sunday morning.

Very cold air with flurries is expected for Sunday. High temperatures can again remain in the 20s. Colder than average temperatures and then expected Monday and Tuesday next week. High temperatures should remain around the mid -30s.
