Jim Caldwell’s Prognosis | Active pattern brings flooding rain and more winter weather

Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) – A very active weather setup unfolds over our region, leading to a number of challenges.

Today

  • Freezing drip: Keep an eye on freezing drip in the northern half of the state, with a light glaze that forms on elevated objects.
  • Flooding: Southeast Kentucky received another 1-3 inch of rain on Tuesday and worsened continuously flooding problems.

Weekend

  • Significant rainfall: A potent storm system brings a general 1-4 inch rain to the entire state on Saturday and Saturday night, leading to a high risk of flooding, including flooding of flash, general flooding and flooding of the river.
  • Serious storms: Depending on the trail of the storm, strong to severe storms can develop over central and eastern Kentucky.
  • Gusty Winds: Wind can reach 40 km / h or higher for Saturday night.

Sunday and Monday

  • Quick temperature drop: Release temperatures go down in the region, which potentially leads to a quick freezing.
  • Wraparound snow: A period of wraparound snow is probably on Sunday with possible accumulation.
  • Snow showers and frigid temps: Snow showers and extremely cold temperatures will continue through Sunday night and early Monday.

Looking ahead

  • Uncertainty: The trail of the storm system can still change, which could potentially lead to a better result with more snow and less rain.
  • Arctic air: A frigid week is expected, with the potential of another winter storm to influence the region in the middle of the week.

Take care of each other!
