fines and bad customer service among top grab

Do you have a problem with your New Jersey Ez Pass? You are definitely not alone.

Assemblyman Paul Kinitra, R-Ocean, joined me to the New Jersey 101.5 Morning Show to ask if listeners had problems with EZ Pass. Kanitra is trying to identify problems and come up with solutions.

“It seems absolutely need for us that on a 75-cent ez-pass you can get a fine of $ 50. We are investigating potential solutions to the problem in general and we may be able to introduce legislation to limit and set limits on what they In fact, fine can be fine and what sanctions can be, “Kanitra said.

The telephone lines were jammed for hours with so many callers showing a long litany of problems.

I was shocked to hear stories about people who owe tens of thousands of dollars in false fines and sanctions and took years to try to solve the problems.

Cap in Hazlet declared, “Ez Pass is to be charged with racketing and extortion!”

Many of these problems seemed to be specific to New Jersey. Callers who have EZ -Pass from another state reported few, if any, problems and much better customer service.

Gregg, from Clark, commute to New York City and got his EZ Pass through his employer. “Mine is from new. Never problems. Fast, accurate solutions,” he said.

Tony from Bridgewater had a similar experience. “NJ EZ PASS is a nightmare. I have had new EZ pass since the 90s and have traveled far and wide without any problems.”

What are the biggest grips?

Almost universally said callers customer service at NJ EZ PASS STINKS.

From waiting an hour or more to wait to talk to a representative of individuals who simply cannot (or will not) help solve a problem with a false charges, violations or other problems.

One of the best stories was from a guy who tried to register a trailer he pulls with his truck to work.

He said he actually had to explain to the customer service representative what a trailer was after she wanted to send him a separate Ez Pass Transponder to the trailer.

“She asked me,” said the one who calls, “What’s the trailer through the toll plaza on her own?”

Many callers said their credit cards were hit by larger and larger automatic refilling fees.

If EZ Pass notes that you are traveling more than usual, they either increase the amount they charge your card or charge it more often to make sure you have enough money in your account to pay the toll.

Tony from Trenton said it should be ridiculous in his account.

“I kept being hit by the charging increases,” Tony told me, “Eventually I called Ez Pass, and after waiting for an hour I finally got someone who heard me out. I told him that I was tired of them Auto replenishing my account because the costs kept getting higher and they converted my EZ pass to a cash account more practical.

Transponders that do not work or not read was another huge problem.

Jessica, from Bayville, told the story of her and her husband’s ez pass tags.

“Our tags are applied correctly on our windshields and are not blocked by any obstacles. Both of us still get frequent violations The violation is typically the same, so it seems to be a problem on their end!

It seems that even when the problem is in the equipment provided by NJ EZ PASS, it’s still your fault.

Jamie, from forked River, shared this nightmare story.

“I had to fight with EZ Pass for months. They charged me over $ 5,000 in fees and they still said ‘the transponder did not read properly.’ They made me send all five of my transponders.

Even after they found that the transponders were defective, they refused to waive all Jamie’s fines and fees. “They told me that you only have permission for 10 exceptions a year. Which complete waste.”

It is in mind that swirls how fast EZ pass fines and fees can add. A caller said he contested over $ 28,000 in fines for his small business.

Fines start at $ 50 and only rise from there.

Many people refuse to pay the fines because the problem is not at their end.

Zan from Jackson is among them. “They send fines all the time because their equipment is not working. I refuse to pay. And there are equipment not working. The fines are in the area two thousand dollars. Maybe three. And growing.”

Getting a fine in the mail to a vehicle that is not yours or for a brand that does not belong to you was another great complaint.

Many callers who said to prove that a vehicle was not theirs demanded a trip to a motor vehicle agency, and even with documentation reports to waive the toll and fines were denied.

Paulie from Monroe Township says he was just banned from Ez Pass.

“My EZ -Pass was canceled because they said they sent me a fine for $ 55. I never received the fine and when I called to solve the problem I was told that my account had been canceled and I are never allowed to get EZ -Pass again.

Assembly man Kanitra said he is looking to help those who believe they have received an “inappropriate fine” and will work to try a decision. The cases will also help Kanitra craft legislation that will tackle the issue of fines.

Drivers may send information about their case to Kanitra on [email protected].
