Could the second time be a charm for a rock duo from Michigan just nominated to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

The white stripes is part of a star -studded list of music actions in the latest nomination class that was just announced this morning.

Formed by Jack White and Meg White in Detroit in 1997, White Stripes released six studio albums from 1999 to 2007. This is the band’s second year of eligibility, which was first nominated in 2003.

According to Billboard, of the 14 nominees that appear on this year’s ballot, eight first timers are: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, Outkast and Phish.

Also nominated is Mariah Carey, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Oasis and Soundgarden.

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have published their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nomination year.

The induced are determined by a vote by more than 1,000 artists, professionals in the music industry, journalists, critics, academics and historians. Fans can too Vote for their favorites here.

The inductors will be revealed in late April with the induction ceremony taking place in Los Angeles last fall.
