Chicago exposes Salt Priestors in the middle of Snowstorm Wednesday

The city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation announced that the inmate salt spreaders on Wednesday in response to a significant snowfall expected.

Chicago activated his “Phase III” snow program with salt spreaders in response to the system expected to fall 3 to 4 inches of snow around the Chicago area, especially later in the afternoon and evening.

What we know:

Salt spreaders will focus on the city’s arterial routes such as Duseable Lake Shore Drive and bridges and transitions to “ensure that they are safe and acceptable for emergency vehicles, public transport and other travelers.”

The department manages more than 9,400 lane miles out of the way.

What you can do:

Commuters are asked to take precautions while traveling on Wednesday. They must allow for extra time and drive appropriately for conditions and leave space between cars.
