No. 19 Mississippi Squanders double-digit lead, jumps back to beat South Carolina 72-68

Columbia, SC (AP) -Malik dia hit a 3-pointer with just over two minutes left that put Mississippi ahead to stay and ended with 18 points as 19-ranked Ole Miss Beat South Carolina 72-68 Wednesday night.

The rebels (19-6, 8-4 Southeastern Conference) spread a 12-point lead in the second half before DIA brought a comeback.

Dia had 12 of his points in the last six minutes, including a three-point game that moved Mississippi back ahead after South Carolina led 58-57.

South Carolina had one last chance to move ahead in the last minute, but Collin Murray-Boyles fumbled the ball on a drive, and Dre Davis brought it to Ole Miss.

It was the latest Heartbreaker for Gamecocks (10-14, 0-11) that has lost 11 straight matches to start SEC games.

Murray-Boyles led South Carolina with 20 points.

Jaeman Brakefield had 14 points and Davis 12 for Ole Miss, who has won three of his last four games.

Mississippi: The rebels are very much in search of a top-four sec seed and a double town of the ligaturation next month. They need sharper games down the stretch.

South Carolina: Not sure where the losing Streak Buster is on Gamecocks’ schedule. They are at No. 3 Florida and LSU next time and also play on Missouri and Tennessee over the next three weeks. Games at home are against Texas, Arkansas and Georgia.

Dia, who played with four mistakes, had a three-point game to put the rebels back ahead, 60-58, with 6:24 to play after South Carolina took the lead.
