5 Must-Watch games during Wednesday’s 15-Games Slate

A 15-match slate can seem scary, so here are five must-watch games across ESPN and NBA League Pass.


Spurs vs. Celtics (19:00 ET, ESPN)

The spurs visit the defense champions in the last game of their annual Rodeo Road Trip and the fifth game since they acquired De’Aaron Fox.

The spurs are 2-2, since trade and came out of a win in Washington that saw Fox (30) and Victor Wembanyama (31) combined for 61 points. It was Wembanyama’s 23. Career games with 30-Plus Point, but the first where he had a teammate score 30 or more.

Boston’s All-Star Combo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have eight seasons of experience together and 27 games, both of which scored 30 or more (the eighth most such game in NBA history).


Hawks vs. Knicks (19.30 ET, League Pass)

Only three players have more 40-Plus points games as visitors to Madison Square Garden than Trae Young: Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant (Three), Bernard King (Five) and Michael Jordan (seven).

In 13 games at MSG, Young has an average of 26.3 points and 8.4 assists. After starting his career 1-5 there, Young has gone 5-3 on MSG since then, including the memorable view in the first round of 2021 NBA playoffs.

Tonight’s game includes a matchup of All-Star Point Guards in Young and New York’s Jalen Brunson, who is looking to jump back from scoring a season-low eight points as he fought for bad trouble in Tuesday’s win against Pacers.


Heat vs. Thunder (8 am, League Pass)

Can Shai Gilgeous-Alexander do it again? The league’s leading goal scorer has three 50+ points games in his career – all of which have come in the last three weeks of three consecutive Wednesdays.

On January 22, Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-best 54 points in a win against Utah. On January 29, he scored 52 in a loss in Golden State. On February 5, he scored 50 in a win against Phoenix.

The only other player in the NBA story with such a stripe was Wilt Chamberlain in 1961. Not even Chamberlain scored 50-plus points on four consecutive Wednesdays.


Lakers vs. Jazz (21:00 ET, NBA League Pass)

All eyes were at Los Angeles Monday to Lakers’ debut by Luka Dončić, who had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes in Las victory against Utah. It was the sixth just victory and 12. In the last 14 games-for Lakers, which is No. 4 in the West as the All-Star break is approaching.

While Dončić is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game, if there is a chance he will play, this game should be on the list of must-watch.

Dončić and LeBron James will continue to play each other, and to build chemistry on the field will be fascinating to keep an eye on in the coming weeks when Lakers is trying to secure their playoff position.

Warriors vs. Mavericks (21:30 ET, ESPN)

Golden State seems to improve to 3-0 with Jimmy Butler in the lineup when the new Look Warriors visit Mavericks.

In his first two matches as a warrior, Butler has an average of 22.5 points of 45.8% shooting and 5.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals per year. Match. He gives Warriors another goal scorer and playmaker to supplement Stephen Curry.

This game is also the key to West’s Playoff Chase as No. 8 Dallas has a half -game lead on No. 9 Sacramento and No. 10 Golden State. A win would give Warriors a 2-1 season series lead and shock Mavs to No. 10.
