Florida State rallies from 16 down to Clip Wake Forest

Taylor Bol Bowen drilled a Go-Ahead 3-Pointer, and Justin Thomas added an insurance can to help Florida State end his 72-70 comeback victory at Wake Forest Wednesday night in Winston-Salem, NC

Seminoles, which pulled 35-21 at the break, went up 70-69 at the Bol Bowens triple with 15 seconds left before Thomas’ dunk made it a three-point game. Cameron Hildrethh was awarded three free kicks for the Demondias with 0.3 left, but only made the middle of the three attempts.

Bol Bowen and Jamir Watkins each scored 15 points, while Malique Ewin paired 14 points with 12 rebounds for Florida State (15-9, 6-7 Atlantic Coast Conference). Thomas spoke eight points from the bench.

Hildreth ended with 22 points, Hunter Sallis poured in 20 points, and Tre’von Players had 13 points, but Wake Forest (18-7, 10-4) had his winning strip end on three games.

Hilderth reached the 20-point mark for the sixth time in the last eight games.

Seminoles were down 44-28 early in the second half before scoring nine even points to close within seven.

A Sallis-Layup with nine minutes to restore the margin at. 16, but Florida State continued to flow away and drew within 63-59 on Thomas’ 3-Pointer by 3:22 to go. Back-to-back curve from Ewin crushed the scoring of 67-67 with 32 seconds to play.

Efton Reid III’s thump gave Wake Forest a two-point edge before the Bol Bowen connected at the other end to push the seminoles in front.

Florida State made six of its last seven field goals, including the last four, while the Demon Deacons made only two shots in the last five minutes.

Wake Forest did not lead to the game’s first 10 minutes, but started going on the way after a Sallis can. The hosts drained three 3-Pointers during a 14-0 race that created a 24-13 advantage.

Hilderth placed the first half of the first half when Demon Deacons led 35-21 during the break. They were helped by 10 points after Florida State revenue.

Despite a solid start to the game, Seminoles could not follow. They were hindered by 1-for-11 shooting on the first half of 3-point trials as part of 30.8 percent shooting from the floor.
