Former Astros Slugger Alex Bregman’s next team probably down to three finalists

Alex Bregman has not yet signed a new team in free agency after hit the open market at the end of his contract with Houston Astros.

As he continues to seek out a new MLB home, three potential landing places appear to be the most likely destination for the 30-year-old third Baseman. According to Espns Buster OlneyBregman is expected to settle to sign with Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs or Detroit Tigers. Olney notes that his sources say that within Astros’ organization they are “skeptical”, which Bregman will return.

The destinations certainly make sense, considering that all three teams are expected to be in the mixture of an endgame in 2025. Bregman, who comes with three equal seasons with a war of 4.1 or above, could be the missing piece to help them with getting over the hump and into a deep race after the season.

Last year, Bregman .260/.315/.453 cut with 26 home runs and 75 RBIs. His .768 ops was the lowest brand in his MLB career, largely because of the reduction in hiking he took on the record. Bregman had only 44 bases on balls in 2024 after admission 92 in 2023. In addition, he can deliver top-layer defense in the hot corner after winning Gold Glove at Third Base last season.

With pitchers and prisoners starting to report prior to spring training, Bregman figures to make his decision soon and it seems he could win up with Red Sox, Cubs or Tigers when they appear to push for the fall season in 2025.
