School delayed openings for icy roads Thursday 13 February

Concern about the impact of the winter mix that started New Jersey’s latest storm will delay the school’s start for a Thursday morning.

Precipitation started early Wednesday night as a wintry mix, but will change to all rain all over the state as temperatures rise, according to chief meteorologist Dan Zarrow. The area north of Route 80 be the last that turns after leaving an empty snow and a light glaze of ice.

“Even the winter zone of North Jersey will eventually turn to all rain when temperatures rise to about 40 degrees overnight. So conditions just have to be wet of dawn on Thursday,” Zarrow said.

Rainy Thursday

The rain can sometimes be heavy through late Thursday morning with maybe even a rumble of thunder. The total rainfall will be half an inch, although there could be larger amounts in southern areas of the state.

After sunshine for Valentine’s Day and the Eagles Championship Parade, the next storm is Saturday afternoon with snow to start, and another change to rain in the evening continues into Sunday.
