ForbesToday’s new mini crossword track and response to Wednesday 12 February

Another day, another new mini crossword puzzle to solve. We need to get some snow here in the mountains, even though I will believe it when I see it. It’s been the driest, hottest winter I can remember, so even the slightest dusting of the fluffy white things would be a welcome change. We need more feet of snow at this point to really have any chance of averting forest fires. In any case, we have a crossword to solve, so let’s solve it!

New Mini is a smaller, faster, more digestible, bite-sized of the larger and more challenging new cruise, and unlike its larger siblings, it is free to play without subscription to the New York Times. You can play it online or app even if you need the app to tackle the archive.

This was a hugely smart and difficult mini crossword! I was really thrown away with 1 and 9 across, which wisely gives a clue within a clue. The word is actually not complete without a last letter in 4-down, but there is a hole in the way. Therefore, remember the gap and see your step. I love these little innovative flairs in a puzzle like this. In any case, it took me for a while to find out, and some of the others, like 2-down, were plenty of difficult on their own. I spent 3 minutes on this mini.
