Snow and freezing rain arrives in western oregon, strong wind continues out of the gap

ONE Winter Storm Warning has been sent to the Portland Metro area and parts of the North Oregon Coast Range.

One Ice Storm Warning is sent to Mid and Southern Willamette Valley. Nation Weather Service says a quarter to half an inch of ice could gather on top of the snow that has fallen.

With temperatures during freezing and a strong east wind when the rainfall arrives, it will fall like snow in the Portland area, ”said Storm Tracker 2 -Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby.

School districts of western Oregon and southwest Washington have announced closures for Thursday. Most districts rang early before the snow started flying.
